History of “Hof te Nieuwenhove”

Back in 868, the settlements were located in Saroldingas, Fieldlord Saruwald’s land,

Saru meaning warrior and Walda spear. Our name Zarlardingas refers to our new activities in the Zarlar (dinge) within an old place (Sarol)Dingas, where time stood still.

Omer Gevaert and Agnes Martien, parents to 10 children, landed with their flock at the farm in 1972, coming from Sint-Martens-Latem, finding their dream place to continue their passions, bio-agriculture, art and music.

For over 40 years, many souls have been enchanted at the farm by the wonderful sounds of Maman’s virtuous piano playing. Her Steinway still remains in the living room, played now by her grandchildren.

With the help of many close friends and family, these days the work continues under the wings of daughters Lucie and Sarah.
